about

This EP is the product of a live off the floor recording session at Thought Pop! in Kitchener Ontario, where four musicians got together to take something small and give it a whole lot of substance. These four songs were originally written on an acoustic guitar in a messy bedroom, and they've now come full circle into studio.

Track Name: Gatekeeper
Green used to be my favourite colour
But then I found out it was just a regular flower
Put on this earth to keep me safe
To keep me sane
At least that's what the doorman said to me

Well maybe they should call him The Gatekeeper instead
Mind you he's not all that good at his job
But neither would you be
If you'd seen what he'd seen
It's all messed up, it's all messed up

I used to have a secret that I swore I'd keep
But peer pressure got the best of me
I became so goddamn greedy
And time and time again
You swore you would be there until my very end
Well here I am at my ends meet

Maybe I'll become the Gatekeeper
Mind you I'm not really that good at my job
But neither would you be
If you'd seen what I've seen
It's all messed up, it's all messed up

Maybe we'll all become The Gatekeepers
Mind you we're not really cut out for the job
So what are we going to do?
When it comes down to me
And it comes down to you
It's all messed up
It's all messed up
Track Name: The Straight Faced Man
I do my best to be a straight faced man
even though there's nights where I know that I can't
and you can see it in my face, you can hear it in my tone
cuz to me a good night, is a long night spent alone
So you tell me you can call em just the same as ya see em
well I guess that you just can't see me
Cuz I've been lying through my teeth
yeah I'm lying through my teeth
And I guess that you just can't see me
No you can't see me

Well it's time for new beginnings,
cuz I'm tired of the same old endings

So when I'm faced with a nasty fight
I will do my best to run and hide
from the ones who caused me all this grief
And if you try to stop me on my way
well don't you know that there'll be hell to pay
yeah hell to pay

It's time for new beginnings
Cuz I'm tired of the same old endings
It's time for new beginnings
cuz I'm tired of the same routine

Of the same routine

It's time for new beginnings
Cuz I'm tired of the same old endings
Yeah it's time for new beginnings
cuz I'm tired
said I'm tired
of the same old endings
Track Name: Miscommunication
Well I've been wondering where this stems from
I've got a bad bad feeling on the tip of my tongue
Could it be that I have gone too far?
Could it be that I just don't know who you are?

You've got me wrapped around that middle finger
I don't know what to do with myself when you're around
Cuz you break me down with your numbers and figures
Yeah you break me down, with your greater state of mind

It's a miscommunication that's gonna send us all to war
They say love is blind, well I've got misfires all over
I've gotta get my men in line before they're wandering forever

You've got me wrapped around that middle finger
I don't know what to do with myself when you're around
Cuz you break me down with your numbers and figures
Yeah you break me down with your greater state of mind

So don't you tell me how I feel,
When you know better than I
No don't you tell me how I feel
You know better than I

It's a miscommunication
A miscommunication
It's a miscommunication
That's gonna send us all to war
Track Name: Coke
Well I chose to pass on the backwash pop
After wasting all my money
On the things they keep in stock
After letting all my time slip by
Not doing things that are worth my while
I don't know when this will stop
But God I hope it does

Cuz I'm all caught up in fiction
And I can barely tell the difference
I've got this chemical imbalance
And I brought this all on
All by myself

We're so stuck up with the things that we choose
Always acting like we're so on top of the life we're bound to lose
Just treating all our friends like crap
And then pretending we're alright with that
I don't know what to do
So I sure as hell hope that you do

Cuz I'm all caught up in fiction
And I can barely tell the difference
I've got a chemical imbalance
And I brought this all on
All by myself

And I know yeah I know yeah I know yeah I know
Well I know I've been messed up
But I hope oh I hope oh I hope oh I hope
To god it's not enough
To bend your bones or break your home
Or leave you worse for wear

Cuz I'm all caught up in fiction
And I can barely tell the difference
I've got this chemical imbalance
And I brought this all on
All by myself
